It could be argued that live performance is the ideal environment for recording improvised music. So much of the music draws on the energy of the room and the audience. John Dikeman was born in Nebraska in 1983 and grew up in Kemmerer, Wyoming. Thanks to the extreme isolation of his hometown, he spent most of his free time practicing and studying music. He quickly discovered the music of John Coltrane, Cecil Taylor, John Zorn, and Albert Ayler and instantly connected to the unmatched expressive power of free jazz. John was very fortunate to meet and collaborate with many excellent improvisers at a rather early age.…

We’re celebrating Koningsnacht with some amazing musicians from the New World. I’m sure they’ll wear orange though.

Ken Aldcroft and Scott Thomson have been performing together since 2005. In addition, they have worked together extensively as co-founders of the Association of Improvising Musicians Toronto (AIMToronto), a musicians’ collective that hosted many exceptional visiting musicians, including Evan Parker, William Parker, Eddie Prévost, Joe McPhee, and Urs Leimgruber, always in collaboration with Toronto musicians.…

Cactus Truck @ USA

cactus truckCactus Truck and guests including Ava Mendoza, Chris Corsano, Joe McPhee and William Parker, are almost half way through their USA tour. Tonight they will play at the Conundrum Music Hall in West Columbia and in a few days they will be heading for NYC.
They’ve got their brand new cd ‘Seizures Palace’ on the Not Two label with them. They hope to also have a re-release of their already out of print ‘Live in USA’ cd as a limited edition tape on the Astral Spirits label.…
