See you at The Market: Onno Govaert

Onno Govaert’s percussion abilities, which display a rare combination of seemingly unlimited technical resources, great orchestral sense, fearless decision making, sensitivity and unbound energy, all add up to making him one of the best young drummers in improvised music. He’s a member of numerous Doek ensembles: Cactus Truck, Feecho, Kaja Draksler Octet, Stadhouders/de Joode/Govaert, Omawi and The PolyBand. He’s also involved in Doek adjacent ensembles including Bacchanalia and the Zebra Street Band. Besides playing with absolutely everyone in the Dutch music scene, Onno has performed with Peter Brötzmann, William Parker, Joe McPhee, Ken Vandermark, Rodrigo Amado, Linda Sharrock, Jeb Bishop and countless others.
