He is currently on faculty for the composition department at the Royal Conservatory of the Hague and the Mime department for the Academie voor Theater en Dans in Amsterdam.…

Onno Govaert’s percussion abilities, which display a rare combination of seemingly unlimited technical resources, great orchestral sense, fearless decision making, sensitivity and unbound energy, all add up to making him one of the best young drummers in improvised music. He’s a member of numerous Doek ensembles: Cactus Truck, Feecho, Kaja Draksler Octet, Stadhouders/de Joode/Govaert, Omawi and The PolyBand. He’s also involved in Doek adjacent ensembles including Bacchanalia and the Zebra Street Band.
