Goede Reis!
ICP 064
Although the incredible duo of Oscar Jan Hoogland and Han Bennink has existed for about a decade, Goede Reis! is the first album they have released. Rather than rushing to publish something as soon as possible, they have let the duo evolve slowly over time into a truly sympathetic pairing. This is so much more than simply throwing one of the most influential of the young Dutch generation of improvisers, Oscar Jan Hoogland, together with the living legend Han Bennink. It is a true partnership that, as Rinus van der Heijden mentions in his review for JazzNu, manages to give us an overview of what is happening in improvised music in 2020 and a reflection of everything that has come before.
Blood Cloud
Jasper Stadhouders – guitar, mandolin, compositions
Mary Oliver – violin, viola
Uldis Vitols – contrabass
Frank Rosaly – drums
Harpo ‘t Hart – analog synthesizer and electric organ
Blood Cloud started as an improvisational unit in 2017. In 2018 they played at the DOEK festival This is Our Music, then took a two-year break and returned to the DOEK Festival LIVE! (2020). The band now plays compositions by Cor Fuhler and Sanne van Hek, as well as pieces by the band members themselves. Their repertoire continues to expand with new compositions and, it almost goes without saying, improvisations.
