The next edition of Space is the Place featuring Doek shows as strong a line-up as we’ve ever presented. Wolter Wierbos is not only an idiosyncratic and world renowned improviser and trombonist, he’s especially known for his solo work which gives ample room for his broad brassy sound and spontaneous nature to shine. Next up, our own Oscar Jan Hoogland has brought together one of the great vocalists living in the Netherlands, Mola Sylla, along with our latest amazing expat, from Chicago, Frank Rosaly, to create a truly magical improvising trio. If you were lucky enough to see this group at last year’s Doek Festival you have an idea of what musical heights this trio can reach.
These sets will be followed by various groups pushing the envelope of what can make you think, feel and dance all at the same time. Starting with a percussion trio, moving into some South American explorations from Superinka & The Galactic Green. FInally, this year’s house band, the Zebra Street Band, will bring it all home! Come on over, but be ready to have your mind blown, and be prepared to get funky!
