See you at The Market: Kaja Draksler

Kaja Draksler is a pianist and composer who is continually evolving and growing as an improviser, proving to be one of the shining stars of the youngest generation of improvisers globally. Aside from possessing virtuosic technique and stellar listening capabilities, her studious nature has allowed her to glean a great understanding of jazz and “classical” form and harmony, with a healthy sense of folk music as a kicker.

Last year, her project the Kaja Draksler Octet made waves, receiving numerous accolades and performing at some of the most prestigious festivals in the world. Kaja is currently busy preparing for the Octet’s second release which will be recorded later this year. Two ensembles that first came together as part of the October Meeting at the Bimhuis, Punkt.Vrt.Plastik, with Christian Lillinger and Petter Eldh, and Hearth, with Mette Rasmussen, Ada Rave, and Susana Santos Silva, have gone on to record and tour to international acclaim.
