Zea
All Ellington Horns
ICP Orchestra with Waterland Harmonie

Kontraesthetika

Doek and Holysloot Kunst in de Kerk are happy to announce the first Holysloot bicycle tour. The Amsterdam Real Book began as a project that connected the new up-and-coming impro scene with the older generation of improvisers. The Amsterdam scene enjoys international fame and respect not only for its experimental character but also for a plethora of collaborations. On Sunday 29 September we’ve set out a bicycle route with short concerts at different stops, ending with a dinner organized by Boergondineren. The route begins at 14:30 at Aan Lager Wal with a concert from ZEA, the eclectic, strange edge band of Arnold de Boer and Oscar Jan Hoogland. Hoogland is pianist, but you can also catch him playing old synthesizers, a revved up electric clavichord, guitar, turntables and toys. Many people know de Boer as singer in the iconic band The Ex. Zea and Oscar toured in Ghana earlier this year and this concert is based on their Ghanaian set. After this fresh start we set off for Holysloot. There could be a couple of surprise acts on the way, so keep your eyes and ears open. In Holysloot’s Witte Kerkje we will be treated to a concert of the horn section of All EllingtonEric Boeren cornet, Mo van der Does alto sax and clarinet, Natalio Sued tenor sax, Giuseppe Doronzo baritone sax, Jimmy Sernesky trumpet and Joost Buis trombone – with new pieces and special arrangements. At around 17:30 the ICP Orchestra will play with the Waterland Harmonie in the hay shed of the Vendrig family on the Liergouw. If you missed their super concert in the Bimhuis in May, be sure to have a listen as this will be your last chance to hear them play together. At the end of the evening you can savour all the music you soaked up while savouring a delicious dinner with a view over the meadows.

Kontraesthetika has just been added to the bill to close out the evening, a new quartet project of Tristan Renfrow featuring John Dikeman, Jasper Stadhouders and Jeroen Kimmen. Scroll down to see their amazing video!
