Eric Boeren 4tet opens new season of Jazz Inverdan

Amsterdam is bustling with improvised music from all generations and nationalities. However, Amsterdam isn’t the only place in the Netherlands to see world class music. In Zaandam we have the Jazz Inverdan series, formerly known as Jazz in Serah. Back then, Eric Boeren was the curator. Eric is no longer curating, but instead has been asked to open the 2019/2020 season with the incomparable Eric Boeren 4tet. This all star ensemble, featuring Michael Moore, Wilbert de Joode and Han Bennink, draws inspiration from the early Ornette Coleman quartets and also features compositions by Eric Boeren. It stands as one of the high points of New Dutch Swing, a fantastic ensemble we don’t get to see enough of these days. It’s not Amsterdam, but it’s sure close! What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon then listening to these top improvisers at work?
