Doek @ Zaal 100 is a monthly meeting place for music, discussion, art and drinks. For this edition guest curator Jappe Groenendijk composed an evening on music and poetry.

The event starts of with a duo, followed by a quintet.

Over the years, poet/dancer Julyen Hamilton and double bass player Wilbert de Joode performed on several occasions as a duo, combining fully improvised text and music.

Many poets have been inspired by music. In their poems they’ve tried to translate music into language. But what will happen if you try to transform these poems back to music? What will we gain if we treat ‘music poems’ as a score for new compositions?

A special quintet, gathered for the occasion, will investigate this. With Michael Moore (alto sax/clarinet), Ab Baars (tenor sax/clarinet), Wolter Wierbos (trombone), Oscar Jan Hoogland (piano) and Wilbert de Joode (double bass).
