Doek is propelling itself into 2017 with exciting events near and far. In January we’re well represented in the Netherlands as well as the Going Dutch festival in Newcastle, UK which features three Doek Musicians as well as a great selection of the Dutch impro scene joining UK improvisers for a day filled with new collaborations as well as presentations of established bands including Feecho and Cactus Truck.

Thanks to the lobbying by Doek and other cultural organisations, the efforts of various political parties (notably SP, D66 and PvdA) and a petition signed by thousands of concerned citizens, the Dutch parliament passed an amendment awarding 10 million euros to arts funding for 2017. This means that Doek will have funding from the FPK for next year! We are very pleased to be able to continue supporting all of the various programs and events that Doek is involved in throughout the year, as well as the Doek Festival which seems to be growing stronger with each new edition.…
On Wednesday December 7, the Buma Boy Edgar Prize 2016 will be awarded to Doek founding member Wilbert de Joode during a festive concert evening in the 
Wilbert de Joode, a founding member of the Doek collective, has been awarded the 2016 Buma Boy Edgar Prize. The Buma Boy Edgarprijs is awarded each year to an artist who has long demonstrated his or her outstanding creative contribution to the vitality of the Dutch jazz and improvised scene. Wilbert is the fourth member of the collective to win this prize, other winners being Michael Moore (1986), Wolter Wierbos (1995) and Tobias Delius (2003).
