Doek and Holysloot Kunst in de Kerk are happy to announce the first Holysloot bicycle tour. The Amsterdam Real Book began as a project that connected the new up-and-coming impro scene with the older generation of improvisers. The Amsterdam scene enjoys international fame and respect not only for its experimental character but also for a plethora of collaborations. On Sunday 29 September we’ve set out a bicycle route with short concerts at different stops, ending with a dinner organized by Boergondineren.…

Gaudeamus is glad to help him realize his dreams by commissioning a work to be performed by his PolyBand. With PolyBand he brings together a large group of musician friends of his for a dizzying, unstoppable cocktail of krautrock, mathcore, cumbia and more. The gigantic band keeps switching between tight control and total surrender, in a 90-minute-long hypnotizing composition which could just as easily last 6 hours.…

Bacchanalia, which first began as part of the Second Stop is Jupiter series at De Ruimte, has been taking over the Dutch scene with its fiery free improvisational approach to Cumbia music. The band’s performances are chaotic and exhilarating, and inspire no small amount of dancing. Their inspiration comes from Bacchus, the Greco-Roman god of wine, freedom, intoxication and ecstasy, all of which we will have in abundance at Sexyland for the closing performance of the festival.…

Wolter Wierbos is widely regarded as one of the leading trombonists in improvised music. His playing is wholly unique and alway effortlessly musical. Wolter plays with such passion and intuition that one can sometimes forget how mind-blowing his abilities on the instrument really are. As fellow trombonist Jeb Bishop said: “There are things on the trombone Wolter can do that no one else can do”. However, it’s still his strengths as an improviser that shine the brightest.…
