new season Space Is The Place ft Doek / The 2nd Stop is jupiter!

Yes, we’re doing it again. Every 2nd Friday of the month in De Ruimte – Space Is the Place ft. Doek followed by The 2nd Stop is Jupiter. At 21:00 you can listen to the best in improvised music from Doek musicians and friends. At 23:00 we clear the tables so you can dance to live music til you drop – OK, til 03:00. We kick off the season on Friday 13 December with a super programme. Special guests include Dirar Kalash (Palestine), Achim Kaufmann (Berlin), Han Bennink (Drenthe!)…

Ada Rave and Marta Warelis – new Doek members!

We are very pleased to welcome two wonderful musicians – Ada Rave reeds and Marta Warelis piano – to the Doek collective. We have been following their paths for quite some time, since Ada took part in the Dutch Impro Academy and Marta studied with Michael Moore in Groningen, and it’s been great to see how they have become integral and indispensable members of Amsterdam’s impro scene. Both already play in Doek groups, Ada playing in the Kaja Draklser Octet, and Marta in the trio Omawi.…

Kaja Draksler Octet – festival hit

The Kaja Draklser Octet has been busy these past weeks with appearances at Ljubljana Jazz Festival, Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Molde Jazz Festival and Wonderfeel. Bye bye Doek Festival 2019


So, Doek Festival 2019 is over. The Market packed up and moved on, and Saturnalia ended in a cloud of smoke and Cumbia. A big thank you to all who came, to all who performed, to all who volunteerd, to those who documented it, to the stall holders, to Bimhuis, to Sociëteit SEXYLAND. It was a blast.
