See you at the Market: Makiko Ito
Makiko Ito has been one of the leading improvisers and choreographers of the Dutch improvised dance scene since she arrived in Amsterdam in 2005. Aside from her exuberant body work she also has the wonderful ability to work with improvising musicians of various backgrounds and truly interact, allowing both mediums to shine without one becoming subservient to the other. She is a long time member of the Magpie Umbrella where she has worked with renowned dancers Katie Duck and Michael Schumacher, who have been some of her greatest creative influences. Makiko is also founder of Wonderland, a company that creates music and dance performances aimed toward children and their parents including interaction with the young participants.
