Eric Boeren 4tet
Saturday June 16 – Bimhuis

Eric Boeren is one of the founders of Stichting Doek and has been a key figure in the Dutch improvised music scene for decades, not only through work in his own projects including the Eric Boeren 4tet, Boerenbond and All Ellington, but also in numerous ensembles where he held a pivotal role, such as Available Jelly, Sean Bergin’s M.O.B., Bik Bent Braam and many more. Eric’s skill as a cornetist and dedicated composer has greatly influenced the Amsterdam improvised music of today. His work as a programmer, organizing the weekly Tuesday evenings at Zaal 100, has also played a crucial role in allowing the local scene to flourish by giving countless musicians a chance to perform, of all ages, from here and abroad.

Eric Boeren 4tet

• Eric Boeren cornet; Michael Moore alto sax, clarinet; Wilbert de Joode double bass; Han Bennink drums

The Eric Boeren 4tet is a high-water mark for the Doek collective. Originally inspired by the classic quartets of Ornette Coleman, it has grown over the years to embrace Boeren’s own vision more fully. A brilliant blending of composition with improvisation by four masters of the game.
