Doek will be celebrating Jan 26 aka Australia Day aka Invasion Day as part of the Doek @ Zaal series presented at Zaal 100. Entrance is free, as always for these Sundays. There will be authentic Australian edibles (or drinkables) provided by none other than Carolyn Muntz and Kerry Finlayson! Pianist Walter Lampe will be there to please the ears during the dish. Mime artist and improviser Eva Kijlstra will do a short performance. Kijlstra: “I was born in the Netherlands but grew up in the countryside in Australia. Outside my work as an actress I experiment with improvised music and finding a ways to apply the rules and techniques of this music form to acting and storytelling. Can I be on stage with my body and my voice and create the similar experience/concentration as what is created by a good music improvisation?”
