See you at the market – the stalls

Only a couple of days to go until Doek Festival 2019, The Market, begins in the Bimhuis. Friday morning we’ll be taking out all the seats and building market stands. On Friday you can buy CDs, LPs, drawings and cardboard art, watch card tricks, make cut-out art, even order a sound studio. On Saturday, besides buying CDs, LPs, merch and drawings you can also have your fortune told, get married or consult a high priest. You can put all your goodies into a fabulous Doek IMPRO bag!…

See you at the market: Bacchanalia – La Orquesta

Bacchanalia, which first began as part of the Second Stop is Jupiter series at De Ruimte, has been taking over the Dutch scene with its fiery free improvisational approach to Cumbia music. See you at The Market: Wolter Wierbos

Wolter Wierbos is widely regarded as one of the leading trombonists in improvised music. His playing is wholly unique and alway effortlessly musical. Wolter plays with such passion and intuition that one can sometimes forget how mind-blowing his abilities on the instrument really are. See you at The Market: Wilbert de Joode

See you at The Market: Wilbert de Joode

Wilbert de Joode is widely regarded as one of the foremost bassists in improvised music. He plucks, prods, bows and scrapes his bass with impeccable intuition and a vast vocabulary drawing from all corners of improvised music. Completely self taught, his approach to the instrument and improvisation in general is wholly unique. Wilbert is also one of the most attentive listeners around, which ensures phenomenal tone regardless of setting. Whether playing fiery free jazz with the likes of Charles Gayle and the late Sunny Murray, sensitively negotiating abstract sonic landscapes with Christine Abdelnour and Le Quan Ninh or mischievously coaxing singing timbres out of a wine glass at a fine Italian eatery, quality of sound is always of utmost importance.…
