Wilbert de Joode wins Buma Boy Edgar Prize

Wilbert-de-Joode-foto-Sara-Anke-Morris-1-1Wilbert de Joode, a founding member of the Doek collective, has been awarded the 2016 Buma Boy Edgar Prize. The Buma Boy Edgarprijs is awarded each year to an artist who has long demonstrated his or her outstanding creative contribution to the vitality of the Dutch jazz and improvised scene. Wilbert is the fourth member of the collective to win this prize, other winners being Michael Moore (1986), Wolter Wierbos (1995) and Tobias Delius (2003).

No subsidy for Stichting Doek, despite extra funding

Amsterdam, 26 September 2016

Dear Sir/Madam,
In September Minister Bussemaker announced that she had made an extra 10 million euros available to spend on culture in the coming 4 years. As Doek board members we heartily applaud this measure. At the same time we are shocked and bewildered by how this money will be allocated.…

Rood Noot, run by three theatre makers, is a former horse stud that now serves as podium, atelier and stable. A beautiful farm that’s just a short bike or bus ride away from Utrecht Central Station. Starting Friday 21 october there’ll be an evening-night-morning event at the farm with concerts and performances by Okapi.

An extraordinary musical experience lasting from Friday evening until Saturday morning. Eleven musicians bring their record players, sirens, bagpipes, paper, guitar, drums, and voices.…
