At this years Doek Festival, Annette Krebs will be presenting her Konstruktion #2, a work consisting of specially designed set-ups of sound objects (metals, strings, wood, various objects), electronics (Max/MSP), and microphones.
Jason Roebke Octet
Jason Roebke – bass, Keefe Jackson – saxophone, Mike Reed – drums, Jason Stein – bass clarinet, Josh Berman – cornet, Jeb Bishop – trombone, Greg Ward – alto saxophone
Composer and double bassist Jason Roebke is the backbone of many of Chicago’s forward-looking jazz groups. Now he brings an octet (though only 7 will be heard on this performance) of Chicago’s finest improvisers to the Bimhuis. The program of new compositions is deeply rooted in rich Ellingtonian harmony while re-imagining the approach with exciting individual interplay between the soloists and ensemble. The gorgeous ballads and fiery free jazz compliment each other and consistently surprise.
